Don’t get me wrong here, I totally love this look, but I can’t help but think of “cool dad” when I see it. Yanno. That Dad who’s wife totally shops at fancy shmancy dept stores for him and makes sure to buy him “cool” sneakers so he stands out from the lame-o’s wearing white running sneaks with their suits in the Port Authority bus line. But no, not me. I’m “cool dad.” And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with lookin like “cool dad.”
If you’re gonna be commuting to work and then sitting in an office all day then comfort is key. The balance of the casual sneaks and jacket with the businessy feel of a tie and the very profesh leather document bag is a great way to stay comfy yet stylish. Think of it as business casual. Business-comf? A knit tie like the one I’m wearing here is a great choice since it feels more casual than a silk tie, especially when paired with a chambray shirt instead of a pressed dress shirt. And let’s take a moment to talk about this bag. Straight from the Kenneth Cole Collection line - this bag is fucking sleek! Maybe even too fancy for me. I mean I may not have super important documents to tote to work - mainly just my ipod, some snacks (well lots of snacks), keys, and loose change - but it makes me look and feel super important even if - when it comes down to it - I’m basically carrying a murse. I’m not even sure what my point is anymore because I tend to just ramble when I can’t think of new words to explain yet again that I’m standing on my roof taking pics… but what I guess I’m saying is that Dads are cool, your wife should buy you nice shit, and people like to be comfy at work. *pulls bag of Cheetos out of fancy murse*
