Zebras, Leopards, And Pumas Oh My!
Mixing Men’s Animal Prints
You all know I love a good manimal print so why not mix a few for a wild look? For this outfit I stayed with a fairly black/white color scheme but swapped out some solids for a little punch of print with the zebra print shirt and leopard socks. It’s not your everyday look but if you want to have some fun with your outfits, animal print is an exciting way to shake things up.
The Waiting Game
What To Wear When You’re Waiting For Spring
We’re three weeks away from the start of spring but you wouldn’t be able to tell because it’s brick as hellllllll in New York. Is global warming real now?? I mean I always hate this time of year because like a true testament to the behavior of my generation, I’m impulsive and impatient. I’m either shopping non-essentail designer winter clearance items or scooping up new spring merch that I totally can’t even wear yet OR will likely not even want to wear by the time it’s actually seasonally appropriate to do so.
Herein likes this first world predicament! What do you do wardrobe-wise when waiting for the seasons to change? Don’t go shopping, for one! And screw that “transitional” dressing noise (stay tuned to my inevitable post next week where I’ll probably - mostly likely - contradict myself). My suggestion is to simply wear all the winter clothes. Over the next few weeks, hopefully less, (hurry up Spring!), go through that closet and get the most wear out of all the coats, ugly sweaters, wools, and fleece that you can before you store them away or end up taking them to Buffalo Exchange. As you can see here I made sure to wear my turtleneck, wool coat that I think I wore literally only 3 times this winter, and wool pants before it’s too late. It’s also a good time to work on your patience. I currently have some really great , recently purchased spring staples I’ve been dying to wear that for now will have to remain neatly on their hangers.
OUTFIT: Men’s Workwear-Inspired Clothing
If I’ve learned anything from Miley’s cyrus’s “adult” music career, it’s that construction sites are super trending right now. And although I may not have come in like a wrecking ball, I did come in on a Mack Truck - but who’s overcompensating? Maybe it’s because of all the site visits I have to go to as a structural engineer, but I’ve always been a fan of the Americana workwear style. Canvas construction jackets, rigid dark denim, warm plaid flannels, and sturdy workboots are all pieces that can be worn stylishly and practically whether out on a job site or out on the town. For this outfit I incorporated some classic workwear pieces with some trend driven accessories like the camo print lace ups and bright backpack to create an outfit that marries both style and function for a look that’s very “WERKwear.”
OUTFIT: How To Mix Patterns
The Vegas Shuffle
My trip to Vegas for the PROJECT tradeshow has got me thinking ahead for what I want my spring wardrobe to look like. Lots of loose silhouettes and lots of patterns is what I’m aiming for and this outfit is a step in that direction. Since it’s not really practical to do much layering in the warmer weather, I decided to keep things interesting by mixing some prints in what I’m calling the “Vegas shuffle.” Basically, if you play your cards right, mixing prints in an outfit can lead to a fun and unexpected look. Here I balanced out a busier top with a small scale pattern with a more subtle larger print in a dark pant. What are some outfit changes you want to make to your spring look? Leave a note in the comments and let me know!
This Sh*t Is Bananas
B-A-N-A-N-A-S! I’ll be honest. My brain is still recovering from a week long drinking binge in Vegas last week so it’s been hard to formulate some insightful blog posts lately. So allow me to just state the obvious and talk about these yellow shoes. Not every guy will want to go out and buy a bold colored shoe because most guys are practical and these shoes are anything but. Unless of course you’re me and really want to make a statement with your footwear. They’re definitely an attention-getter and will help add a colorful flair to an otherwise subdued outfit. But if Drake has taught us anything it’s that YOLO - you only live once - so switch up your routine and go for the bold every now and then. Don’t believe me? Here’s a few shining examples of yellow shoes done right.
