2012 Outfit Roundup - Melanie

In 2012 we introduced you all to our good friend and lady blogger Melanie Schnitzlein aka “That Sketchy Blonde.” Having her contribute to the blog has helped us start to acheive the balance that we wanted for Closet Freaks - a little style inspiration for everyone, guy or gal. And we don’t call her sketchy blonde for nothing! Santy Claus Is Comin by Melanie Schnitzlein | @sketchyblonde | www.thatsketchyblonde.tumblr.com Christmas is a day where, sartorially speaking, you don’t have to try too hard. Grammie doesn’t want to see you in a sheer top and leather drop-crotch trousers anyway. Your clothes should be ready for cookie-eating, whiskey-drinking, and present-opening, aka loose and/or stretchy. We don’t get super fancy in my house for the occasion, and stay specifically dressed down for Christmas morning in particular - mascara, hairbrushes and clothes that are not pajamas are strictly banned - but for Christmas evening, we like to get a little cleaned up. A simple, luxe sweater, pants with tactile interest, and CUTE SOCKS (no shoes allowed) are de rigeur for me. Here’s some ideas to get ya started -  Socks - if you’re not wearing shoes, make your feet look cool in other ways. Also your other socks are probably old and gross. So get new ones, like stripes with a cap toe, something Fairisle-y, or polka dots! Sweater - My first choice would be something cashmere of course, because I can feel like a rich lady. This Vince sweater will have you looking like a very cute candy cane, and I have something similar to this Velvet one that I basically live in. This tan/gray combo or metallic pullover are a little less expensive, but just as good for lounging around and eating all day.  Pants - Something velvety, like this Free People pair.
