Hello, I’m Mia And This Is My Cosplay Blog

If you have found yourself inside of my about page you’re probably here because you made a mistake or because you’re looking for a little bit more info on who is behind the scenes here and why I love cosplay so much (we will get into that in a minute!). I hope you enjoy reading more about me, if you have any questions you would like to ask me just send them in and I will get back to you.

  • I am a bit of a nerd.

Why Did I Create ClosetFreaksBlog?

I created my blog because quite frankly I love cosplay and I have exhausted every community out there, I wanted something shiny and new. I love how inclusive this world is and finding new people like me is joyous, the only downside is that I couldn’t find a place where there’s a real person with a real love for cosplay behind the blog, I struggled to find anywhere that wasn’t glitzy pictures of costumes I couldn’t afford. So after telling my small group of friends about my struggles I figured why not make my own blog? Fill it with costumes and advice, fill it with the things I want to read about and I want new and old cosplayers to read about. So that’s exactly what I did.

How I Got Into Cosplay

Since I was a child I loved dressing up, getting my outfit together, pretending to be someone I wasn’t. I would dress up as Disney characters, my favorite film characters, superheroes, and villains. I had an eye for it and I just loved putting my outfit on and transforming myself into this new person.

From there my passion grew and grew with me and as I improvised with things around my home a lot of the time I earned money and started buying the real deal, it progressed into a hobby not just a passion for me. My parents would buy me costumes and accessories and before long I found groups of people like me, people who enjoyed cosplay and dress-up and I knew it was meant for me.

Why I’m In Love With Cosplay & Dressing Up

Cosplaying and dressing up allows me to really feel like myself and more importantly, be myself. As an adult I love the process of purchasing a new outfit, putting it together with makeup and hair, shoes, accessories, and bringing that character to life. It’s a great way to express myself and show my appreciation to a show, character, or community.

As an adult, I also love the events, the sense of community, the attention, and just about everything else that comes with it. I love putting my money into these outfits and characters, it’s so much for fun for me and I can’t see myself stopping any time soon.

Who I Enjoy Cosplaying As The Most

I dress-up a lot, I have two full closets filled with costumes and accessories, I don’t just stick to one outfit and I know a lot of people do but the fun for me is transforming into something new whenever I feel like it.

– D.va (Overwatch)

-Wonder Woman

-Nishikino Maki

– Alice In Wonderland

These are just some examples that came to my head first, I cosplay so many different characters that it can be hard to keep track!

The Cosplayers I’m In Awe Of

I love all cosplayers, I don’t care if you make a little effort or go full-out with your costume, I just love seeing people getting involved. However, there are some people who do make me stand there gawping with my mouth wide open. I love you all so this isn’t disrespecting anyone else but these are the cosplayers I look up to with some of my outfits:

Where Is ClosetFreaksBlog Located And Where Do I Live?

Both my blog are I are located in the USA, I live in North America. I love it here, I didn’t go too far when I left for college and I knew I would always come back to my home. I love travelling and seeing other parts of the world but I know where home is and as I have gotten older I realize what a blessing that is. I have always lived here, although I am half Asian I was born and bred here and it is home 100% to me.

Do I Travel To European Conventions?

Yes! I have been to a few European conventions, when I went it was actually my first time in Europe and when I say I loved it, I can’t explain to you how much was had. The conventions are incredible there, I met some of the most amazing people and I love going back whenever I get the chance. Europe is like a second home to me, I always find it so welcoming and the conventions are always full, well-organized and you get to meet some of the most elite cosplayers there.

Want To Meet Me?

I’m thinking about posting my going to events list for this year, let me know.
I love meetups, so maybe I can host one at the next cosplay event I’m at? Let me know if that’s something you might be interested in!

List On Conventions I Want To Go To:

It’s Just My Own Opinions

Everything I write on my blog is my own opinion, I sit here and ramble all day to my friends about cosplay so why not write it all down for someone to read and connect with?

I try and get it right with whatever I say and I really appreciate any feedback, tips, tricks, ideas, or just a friendly hello. I love making our cosplay world a better place for beginners and for professionals so if you have anything to add on anything I write about feel free to leave it my comment section for others to read and for me to comment on.
